O chanceler venezuelano, Jorge Arreaza, defende a reconstrução das relações com o Brasil para coordenar o combate à pandemia COVID-19.
“A mensagem do presidente [da Venezuela, Nicolás] Maduro ao presidente [do Brasil] Jair Bolsonaro, apesar das divergências devido aos ataques que nos desconhecem, que não respondem, é que aproveitamos a pandemia para reconstruir a relação diplomática ” Arreaza disse na quinta-feira durante uma videoconferência com os ex-ministros das Relações Exteriores do Brasil, Celso Amorim (2011-2014) e Aloysio Nunes (2017-2019).
O Ministro das Relações Exteriores da Venezuela insistiu na necessidade de promover a cooperação no enfrentamento da pandemia, como única forma de neutralizá-la, e afirmou que a pandemia obriga os países vizinhos a tratar as relações diplomáticas com responsabilidade e altura, fazendo diferenças políticas e ideológicas à parte.
Por isso, destacou que seu governo vai insistir em estabelecer uma ponte de comunicação com o Brasil e disse que estaria até disposto a voar até a capital brasileira para se reunir com seu homólogo brasileiro, Ernesto Araújo.
“Vamos insistir, queremos e se os ex-ministros puderem nos fazer uma ponte com o chanceler Ernesto Araujo, teremos o prazer de mudar para a fronteira, para Pequim, onde ele quiser”, acrescentou.
Em 2017, durante o governo do então presidente Michel Temer (2016 – 2018), as relações entre Brasil e Venezuela começaram a se desgastar, mas se tornaram ainda mais tensas em 2019, após a chegada ao poder do atual presidente, Jair Bolsonaro, que não sabe Maduro como o legítimo presidente da Venezuela.
Em 7 de agosto, Arreaza também enviou uma carta ao Chanceler brasileiro, na qual reiterou o interesse do Governo venezuelano em estabelecer a cooperação mais estreita para enfrentar a pandemia; no entanto, o pedido permaneceu sem resposta.
“É urgente uma ação coordenada entre nossos países, que compartilham uma extensa fronteira comum, bem como uma longa tradição de laços familiares, culturais, sociais e econômicos, especialmente nas vastas áreas limítrofes”, diz a carta, onde também exorta a uma coordenação direta em torno da situação de pandemia, “colocando o benefício de nossos povos em primeiro lugar.”
